Why is that we have trouble fulfilling our purpose?
I’ll forever remember that night in my room I was praying when the Holy Spirit revealed to me what my gift is. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had trouble with the piercing truth of my influence through words. Listen, anyone who really knows me will attest to this fact: I can kill you with my words. No, like seriously. Independent of the love I may claim to have for you, if you take me there, I’ll crush you with my mouth.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof [Proverbs 18:21] KJV
If you’re not trusting the Holy Spirit for understanding when you read this scripture, you’ll miss the message. Do you know that we shall give account on judgment day to every single word we speak? (Matthew 12:36) Whoa. That’s actually scary. When you process this truth, you’ll be a bit more cognizant of the things you say; and if I may extend it deeper, the things you even THINK. The bible even goes on to warn us to be very very weary of becoming teachers because those who teach will be judged with a greater strictness than those who do not teach. (James 3:1-12)…
So as I laid there on my floor feeling condemned about how I’ve loosely used my tongue, I repented and asked the Holy Spirit to guide me and continue to convict me anytime I so much as thought about saying anything that didn’t uplift or speak life.
But the real reason for this post is because my heart was troubled this morning. I started to think about society and how people (including myself) fail to reach their full potential. How we fail to operate in our gifts that will guarantee prosperity. Everyone seeks influence from everything under the sun EXCEPT the Holy Spirit. And this is partially a result of the documentation of success on social media. We aspire to be these imaginary successful people displayed on social media who secretly aspire to be us. You have NOOOOO IDEAAAAA how many “successful” (based on societal definitions) people just wish they can be “normal.” And here we are aspiring to have their wealth, fame, and privileges. Be VERY careful! Wishing for all they have, might get you all they have- including the demonic spirits that make them want to commit suicide.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” [Ephesians 2:10] ESV
The amplified version reads:
For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us]. [Ephesian 2:10] AMP
God created each and every single one of us to perform GOOD works, which he prepared for us to do before we were even born. The bible says in Jeremiah 1:5 that “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart, I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” This is one of my favorite scriptures because it reminds me that I have a duty to do that which has never been done before. I’m not a clone or carbon copy. God created me to do something different; something that has never done before. This is called my purpose! We serve a wise God. Bible says “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” (1 Corinthians 1:25) What kind of God would make 2 people the same? In knowing that we have an assignment to be set apart and fulfill the good works created in Christ Jesus, we have to get to a place where we’re doing less society listening and more Holy Spirit listening.
God isn’t going to prepare your purpose and not reveal it unto to you. The question is are you listening to God or are your ears clouded by society, your parents, your friends, your pastor, etc.
If you operate in your gift, it’ll make you prosperous. If you operate in someone else’s gift, it’ll cause you discontent.
I believe once you find out what your gift is, you’ll be very shocked to see that it was probably hidden as your weakness. The devil knows your purpose, hunny. He’s working overtime to ensure you don’t fulfill your purpose. When you discover your gift, protect it and pray about it. It’s the vehicle that will bring you into your purpose.
God Bless You.
