Seducing Spirits

May not be you, but somebody will read this…

Yesterday I posted a TBT pic on social media and briefly touched on seducing spirits. Unfortunately, people did not receive the message as I intended because they were too distracted by the actual picture. (Now I know to not include a pic of myself when I feel the HS is leading me to talk about something. We don’t need any distractions.)

I began to expose how I battle with cutting people off. The enemy had me believing it wasn’t Christ-like to block and cut people off. But the truth is, some people are manipulated, controlled, and demonized by seducing spirits and they are very dangerous.

In my study of the book of Jude, I learned that these seducing spirits come in their numbers. Jude verse 12 says These are spits in your love feasts, while they feast with you without fear, serving only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried about by the winds; late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled by the roots; raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. I believe the comparison to clouds symbolize that these false prophets/ seducers come in numbers just as the clouds. However they are empty.

We know the kind the book of Jude talks about. “Christians” with false doctrines, teachers of other gospels beside the Gospel of Jesus Christ, false prophets that perverse the word of God. The list goes on. I know many people who speak and teach contrary to the Word of God. And I’m not referring to those who sometimes speak out of ignorance. (Raises hand). A good example is one of my former posts on Facebook where I agreed with someone who said you can lose your salvation. Well glory be to God for friends like Marissa who messaged me, sharing scriptures and convincing me to do more research. I now know this can’t actually happen. Nobody can take you out of the hand of God. Nobody. (more on this in maybe another post?)

Back to these seducers… they are dangerous, simply put. They come to defile your flesh, speak evil in your life, and get you as far away from the truth as possible. In 1 Timothy 4: 4-5 says Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

These characteristics sound familiar? Hmm. We all know at least one seducing spirit. Paul tells us in 1 Timothy 4:7 that we should have NOTHING to do with these things. I like the English Standard Version: 7 Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; 8 for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. We have to be very cautious to not expose ourselves to these spirits.

Do you even know what the LORD commanded us to do to these?

Deuteronomy 13: 12-17 says If you hear in one of your cities, which the Lord your God is giving you to dwell there, 13 that certain worthless fellows have gone out among you and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ which you have not known, 14 then you shall inquire and make search and ask diligently. And behold, if it be true and certain that such an abomination has been done among you, 15 you shall surely put the inhabitants of that city to the sword, devoting it to destruction,[c] all who are in it and its cattle, with the edge of the sword. 16 You shall gather all its spoil into the midst of its open square and burn the city and all its spoil with fire, as a whole burnt offering to the Lord your God. It shall be a heap forever. It shall not be built again. 17 None of the devoted things shall stick to your hand, that the Lord may turn from the fierceness of his anger and show you mercy and have compassion on you and multiply you, as he swore to your fathers,

Looks like blocking and cutting these folks off is justifiable. We have to fence ourselves against these seducing spirits, lest we be entangled in a web of lies and heresies and the wrath of God fall upon us. Upon reading these scriptures, I no longer feel bad about putting a few folks on the blocked list.

I always say the more I learn, the more I realize I need to learn more. The world can have you doing life all wrong if you don’t study and meditate on God’s word. It is my prayer that both you and I will STUDY and study to show ourselves approved.

God bless you!

This was a great read, i also battled with whether it was right to cut people off that were hurting you but praise be to God for guarding our spirits and leading us in the right path away from evil people and evil spirits. Thank you for sharing 🙂
