Who do you quite often imitate?
H&M Jacket (love this one!) // Talbots Dress (love this one on sale) // Jimmy Choo Anouk Pumps // J. Crew multi pearls (on SALE)
I take no credit for this look. While this dress is certainly a repeat outfit I wore occasionally at my old firm, I have to mention that I was inspired by my new boss, the head of my division. She wore this look to one of our board meetings and I couldn’t help to think, “Hey, I have a similar dress and similar pearls!”…So the next day I went into the office just like this!
Well, they say imitation is the best form of flattery.
As a Christian, the only people I look to imitate is Jesus Christ and those who act like Jesus Christ. I don’t think it is necessarily wrong to imitate people you admire, but I do believe the only standard should be Jesus Christ.
Imitating the wrong people had me make a fool of myself in the past. I can remember as early as grade school when some of my classmates decided to take candy from a 2nd grade teacher’s classroom. Although I knew it was wrong, all my friends were doing it, and I wanted to imitate them. I even recall my beginning days of blogging, trying to imitate some of the bloggers that I admired. In all situations, I realized, later on, how completely stupid I looked.
The bible says the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. 1 John 2:6
There is a man, however, who we can imitate and be completely content in appearing stupid. That man is Jesus. The world may call us strange, weird, stupid, foolish, but God calls us beloved children!
I challenge you all to imitate Christ from now on. Don’t worry how you look in man’s eyes; God will be so moved by your humility and obedience.
God bless you!
Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
I love your smile! It’s so beautiful, genuine and happy.
