Testimony Tuesday: Girding Up the Loins of My Mind Part ii

Here’s what I really meant to discuss last week.

WHAT I’M WEARING:

Dress (with belt): c/o Shein – size small ; Shoes: Zara- size 39 (LOVE these)Clutch: Zara- old (try this)

Before we get into today’s Testimony, lets talk about my outfit. I wore this dress to a CD launch Saturday night. When I first received the dress, the belt turned me off. Then I thought about this Zara box clutch, and how the belt might compliment it. I rarely ever wear these Zara satin heels, but I refuse to get rid of them for days like this- when I need a green minimal kitten heel to complete an already busy look. The dress runs true to size, unless you’re not shaped true to size like myself. You all know I have muscular arms; this dress isn’t really cut for muscular arms. So I did struggle a bit to put it on and take it off. Also couldn’t raise my hand higher than my eyes. Final rating? 3.75/ 5 stars.

Now…

Today’s Testimony Tuesday post comes from 1 Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

When I read this scripture I said to myself, “what the heck does girding up loins even mean?” I could have read another translation of the Bible, but I love the King James Version (on most days) so I began to do some research.

Now, back in the days, men wore long tunics. And these tunics were restrictive in battle. Meaning, it restricted easy movement while men were at war; so as a result, they had to find a way to shorten their tunic in order to fight freely. (See illustration taken from Huffington Post below.)

Now that you have an understanding of what it means to “gird your loins,” you should now understand what Apostle Paul means for us to gird up the loins of our minds. We are to put our minds in preparation for battle. We are to be alert. We are to be in expectation. We are to be ready for the move of God. So many times I’ve worried myself to sickness because my mind’s loins weren’t girded. So many times I allowed myself to be controlled or manipulated because my mind’s loins weren’t girded. And if you’re wondering how you go about girding the loins of your mind. The answer is with TRUTH. The only way you can gird your mind’s loins is by filling up your mind with the truth- which is the Word of God.

The truth isn’t what the world says about you. It isn’t even what you say about yourself. The TRUTH is what God says and also what He says about you! He says that his Word are yes and amen (2 Corinthians 1:20).

So lets get ready to gird up the loins of our minds for battle! It’s a war out there- especially with Satan roaming to and fro! (Job 1:7)
