WhenI first met my husband, I spent a great deal of time getting to know him; his likes and his dislikes. Because we lived over 5 hours away from each other, we spent so much time conversing over the phone since we couldn’t see each other often. When I found peace about him potentially being my husband (a blog post about how I knew he was the one is here) I wanted to make sure I found out what pleased him.
In reading Ephesians 5: 10 I see that Apostle Paul tells us to do the same with God.
Prove what is acceptable unto the Lord. KJV
Figure out what will please Christ, and then do it. MSG
And find out what pleases the Lord. NIV
So many times we take time to find out what pleases our parents, our children, our boss, and our friends but never what pleases God. This year I hope you find out what pleases Him. There are three practical ways to do so:
- Get to know who God is. His character. What makes Him God.
- Get to know God’s voice. What does He sound like. What does He say. What doesn’t God say.
- Get to know what God hates. What makes God mad. What displeases Him.
Doing these three things will make you understand what pleases God. You have to be intentional about it as you are intentional about anything else. In order to complete these three, you must read your Bible. It doesn’t have to be a physical copy (although I always recommend one). You can download the Bible app now and start reading!
