Got an opportunity to purchase this Dyson Corrale and sharing my thoughts on it!
I recently purchased the Dyson Corrale hair straightener on sale after reading mixed reviews about it. I wanted to try it out mainly because it was a cordless flat iron and knew it could serve beneficial for my busy schedule. So often I have to sacrifice doing my hair in order to get to church and other functions on time. I truly believe this straightener will be perfect for those days.
My initial impression was that the straightener was so pretty! One of the prettiest ones I ever did lay my eyes on. But it’s heavier than most straighteners. I can imagine the weight is due to the internal battery allowing for it to be cordless. The straightener has 3 heat settings- 330°F, 365°F, and 410°F- to suit your preferences. I like that there are not so many options because, let’s face it, we don’t really use all the additional temperatures on heating tools anyway.
I’m not a fan of reading instruction manuals so I skipped that step and went straight to using the straightener. I started by using the straightener with the cord as it wasn’t fully charged. I’ll be honest and say I was disappointed because although placed on the highest temperature setting (410) it seemed to provide a medium heat. While straightening my weave, I needed to go through the hair multiple times before it became really straight.
The next time around, I charged it for about 2 hours so that it was fully charged. When I turned it on, it was so much hotter than my first try, and provided better results. My hair was straighter after one through, but didn’t provide much shine. The Dyson corrale straighter has flexing copper plates which is supposed to give you ultimate in control with styling, achieving your styles with less heat, reduced frizz, and fewer flyaways. I found that I did see a reduction in frizz and flyaways and not too much heat was needed to get my hair straight. But I didn’t like how dull It left my weave. However it did make my leave out (real hair) look amazing.
I have found that the battery life on this straightener can be better. It gave me about 20 minutes of styling time from full charge to completely dead. Because I bought this straightener for those days I’m rushing, and crunched on time, I can imagine 20 minutes is all that I need. So I’ll accept that for now!
I think if you have the budget for this and are looking for a straightener that will protect your true natural hair from heat damage-this is the one for you! But this isn’t a straightener you should purchase to style weaves or units or any hair that is not growing from your scalp.
If I’m to rate this straightener – I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars! Hope this helps 🙂
