My Main Bathroom Renovation With The Tile Shop

Bringing my bathroom dreams to life with The Tile Shop.

As soon as we purchased our home, we knew we had plans to renovate our master bathroom, as it did not speak to our personal design style. The bathroom consisted of different color marble tiles with very wide grout lines and a jacuzzi shower system that was outdated. Before renovating our bathroom, we wanted to source the absolute best materials, including tiles. So we’re overjoyed to have worked with The Tile Shop on our main bathroom redesign.

The Tile Shop has a network of over 140 stores throughout the U.S. They offer a distinct assortment of more than 6,000 quality tile and natural stone selections with coordinating trim and accessory pieces, as well as industry-leading installation products and design expertise. I was very adamant about having high quality dark blue tiles within my main bathroom and knew not many tile stores would carry such a color.

I trusted The Tile Shop not only to help me bring my vision to life, but to walk me through the entire process of the project. My first visit to The Tile Shop exceeded my expectations! The Tile Shop offers completely free design services, which made the selection process so easy. I met with a designer named Lisa who sat down with me to discuss my bathroom project. I showed her my bathroom and gave her the dimensions, and explained my desire for dark blue marble tiles. Lisa showed me so many great tile selections and even suggested a few other tiles I did not originally have in mind.

Since we were getting rid of the jacuzzi shower system in our bathroom, we were going to have our contractor build a stand-in shower for us. However, I was introduced to the Wedi Fundo Primo Shower Kit System at The Tile Shop and decided this would be the best and most convenient way to build our shower! Everything we needed to prep our shower before tiling was included in one box: a floor, building boards, fastening panels, a drain, adhesives, sealing and joint reinforcement tape, screws and assorted tool accessories.

I was so impressed with the large selection of blue tiles in the store that I suddenly wanted to work on every room in my home! Lisa showed me The Aqua Blu Polished Porcelain tile in a large format (24 x 47inches) and I immediately knew it would be the perfect tile for our bathroom.Choosing a porcelain marble-look tile provides incredible durability while still achieving the blue marble look I was looking for. Lisa advised me that using a larger tile would make for less grout lines, giving a cleaner finish and making it easier to maintain.

We used the polished tiles on the shower wall and bathroom floors, and then used the Aqua Blu Matte Mosaic Porcelain tile for the shower floors. We opted for these tiles as they are matte, making it slip proof on the shower floors; and the smaller measurements (2x2in) create more movement in the design. Lisa suggested the ½ inch bronze satin brushed L edging profiles to finish off the edges of the tile making the space feel complete, and a polished marble threshold to break up the smaller room from the main bathroom.

In the end, our main bathroom turned out absolutely beautiful; and we couldn’t be more pleased with the help of The Tile Shop in our design! We cannot thank The Tile Shop enough for collaborating with us on this project. For all of your tile project needs, be sure to check out The Tile Shop!
