As I reflect on my journey into real estate, I can’t help but marvel at the twists and turns that have brought me to where I am today. If you’re new here, then let me start by saying, I had NO idea that this would be my life. I’ve wanted to be an attorney since 1995. I saw Johnny Cochran on the television defending OJ Simpson and I thought I could be the female version of him. Yes- very weird aspiration for  such a small girl, but that was my reality.  In college, while president of the Black Law Students Association and being exposed to the nuances of law, and the demands of law school, I became discouraged and took the business consulting route.

Just a few years ago, I made the bold decision to transition from a corporate career to the role of a stay-at-home mom and budding entrepreneur. While the experience has been both challenging and rewarding, I soon realized that being a traditional stay-at-home mom didn’t fully encompass who I am. Stay at home moms are admirable. It’s the hardest role I’ve ever held- but it just isn’t for me.

Now, I’ve always had a passion for business, entrepreneurship, and helping others. These passions simmered within me, waiting for the right moment to ignite. If you’ve been here for some time, you would have seen manifestations of those passions – from influencing to my e-commerce businesses. But real estate, in particular, had always captivated my interest. The idea of investing in properties and helping others find their dream homes resonated deeply with me.

The spark to pursue a career in real estate was ignited when my realtor who helped us buy our home suggested that I had the potential to excel in the field. At the time, I was juggling a corporate job and preparing for the arrival of my first child, so I didn’t give it much thought. However, the seed had been planted, and it continued to grow. The last year, a prophetic word affirmed that real estate would be an area of blessing in my life. Encouraged by this divine guidance, I prayed for guidance and then embarked on a journey of exploration and discovery. Despite the challenges that lay ahead, I felt compelled to pursue this newfound passion with unwavering determination.

Last year, my husband and I were presented with the chance to delve into real estate investment and this opportunity served as a catalyst, propelling me further into the realm of real estate. I still can’t believe that we own real estate investment properties outside of our home. I never imagined God would answer our prayer so quickly and with such favor.

And this year, I proudly stand as a licensed real estate agent in Connecticut? This can only be the doing of the Lord. Listen, the path from inception to realization was anything but smooth. Late-night classes while nursing a baby, studying for exams amidst limited childcare support –(mom traveled out of the country for a last minute emergency and I still can’t believe I passed the exam on the first try- especially considering I kept falling asleep throughout the exam.)  Each obstacle was a testament to God’s mighty hand upon me; and to my resilience and determination. And through it all, I was sustained by God’s grace and favor, guiding me every step of the way.

Today, as I reflect on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities that have come my way. My transition from a corporate career to entrepreneurship, particularly in the field of real estate, has been nothing short of transformative. It has allowed me to embrace my passions fully and pursue a career that aligns with my values and aspirations. I’ve doubted. I was intimidated but MOST IMPORTANTLY I was confident of this, that he who began a good work in ME will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

As I embark on this new chapter, I am excited to continue growing, learning, and making a positive impact in the world of real estate. My journey serves as a reminder that with faith, perseverance, and a willingness to step outside of one’s comfort zone, anything is possible. And for that, I am eternally grateful!
